This is Vincent!

He’s graduate of Duke University Fuqua School of Business- that makes him an official Blue Devil. He’s a big fan of Duke basketball, as he should be. His Blue Devils have become quite an exciting football team too!!

Vince on board

Vince is a fitness enthusiast to the nth degree. He works out or does some outdoor activity every day. He’s a P90X king! Exercising makes him happy. No, really! He’s an endorphin junkie. Being outdoors is his ultimate love, whether it’s working around our house or on the lake.

This man is a blessing in the kitchen! Be it cooking, dish washing or food preparation. But mostly, his love of my cooking earns him 5 stars in my book. Whether I serve New Orleans style gumbo or left-over fried rice, he will eat it, be grateful, complimentary and smiling. What more could a girl ask for in a man!?

Vince is always smiling and jolly…except in Atlanta traffic. But, what can I say? Traffic here is NOT a thing of beauty.

I am Dawn!

I’m a bit let serious than Vincent, but don’t misunderstand me, he keeps me in stitches! He is a jolly character and I have never known a man like him. He generates a love so big and so wonderful! He is my magic man. He is so much fun to be with, in so many ways.

I also have my own serious side too. But sometimes, well, most of the time, the kid in me prevails. Besides, a few life altering events have really made me think differently. Life is short, it can be stopped on a dime, with no turning back. No matter how much planning we do, or how we think it should all play out; life just happens – things happen. I truly embrace the ‘tell the people you love just how much you love them’ line. Every chance I get. I know that if you love someone you must ‘walk the talk’. Show them your heart. Love your neighbors. Be the example, at home and in public.

Don’t be afraid to laugh at yourself. Laugh with others, often. Be kind. Be silly. Treasure the good things in your life and in your past. Learn from the hurt and the hard times. Be proud of who you are, who you have become and who you aim to be. Forgive yourself for not being perfect. Forgive others for mistakes. Make peace and encourage others to do the same.

This is just a little insight to who I am and what I believe. I’m sappy and I’m spontaneous. I’m inquisitive and I’m intelligent. I cry easily – but I laugh harder. I fret and I worry. I am a mother, a sister and a daughter. I am a wife and I am a friend. I pray. I believe. I wear my heart on my sleeves, and I love with all of my heart.

I am a one in a million girl. I have Churg-Strauss Syndrome. It is a rare systemic vasculitis (inflammation in the wall of blood vessels of the body), predominantly affecting small-sized vessels, now also referred to by its medically more accurate term eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA). I’ll write more on this later.

I have had a really tough struggle with this disease for about 17 years. I was, however, only diagnosed about 14 months ago. This past year or so has been brutal; from so many angles. is my new focus. I have had to overcome my fears and my feelings of hopelessness. My husband set the site up for me and both he and my daughter have encouraged me to take my ‘life’ back and do the things I love.

I hope that  you will be able to join me as I share my life, my love and my laughter!
